One more Quad 57 question concerning frequency response and bass

I'm wondering about the bass response on a rebuilt pair of Quads. Does refurbishing help the bass extention....or does bass more or less remain the same as it is on an original pair?

Also....I could SWEAR that the highs are more rolled off after having these plugged in for 24 hours and listening to them. So much so that I'm wondering if I've damaged them. Now if I'd blown a treble panel...how would I know it? I still hear both panels making high frequency....so I'm assuming that they'd either work or they wouldn't? What do they sound like when they're toasted? Need advice in this area.

I'm basically just trying to feel out the speaker....listen to it...live with it...to see if I should bother rebuilding them or if it's not the speaker for me.
