Re: $3,000 to spend on planars and amp. . . recommendations?

Here's another suggestion:

I think the 1.6's ahould be fine despite the room size, mines is 13' across and I have 3.6's and they sound great.

1.6's - used $900-1100
nOrh Le amp II mono's - new $600/pr -
Marsh p2000t - used - $700-900

The nOrh's are 200 watt/ch, there might be a wait on them as they are currently building them, I ordered mines back in April and still waiting. I have the original Le Amps, which are only 100 watt/ch and played them with the 3.6's and was quite surprise how good they sound, I also have the Bryston 4B-ST which is more dynamic when louder. The Marsh is a great pre that is a hybrid, which is a great combo with the solid state amps. Good luck in your search.
