Re: Cryogenic Treatment or Dry Ice?

Well dry ice is frozen CO2 and maybe the CO2 displaces oxygen inside the cable jacket. However, this would eventually diffuse out and be replaced by normal air (which is about 20% oxygen). Ideally a cable should be oxygen free but this is probably never really true. Also, dry ice is not nearly as cold as liquid nitrogen (which I believe is the normal cryogenic treatment). The ultimate of course would be liquid Helium which is only about 4K (so for degrees above absolute zero) but is not easy to obtain outside a laboratory.
