great speakers. That's the conclusion I came up with after a quick jaunt over at the HE2003. Admittedly, I was very compress for time and only had about 4 hours to cover as many rooms as possible. I'm not even going to cover anything in detail since my first impressions were just that. I covered probably about 90% of the rooms and basically walked away fairly unimpress with the majority of my visits. Each time I listened, I tried to be as objective as possible always comparing to what I was listening to with my 3.6's, even comparing to the 1.6's. Also being a planar and ribbon devotee, I was especially paying close attention to the Quad, Piega, Innersound, etc rooms, while some of them had nice sound, none of them wowed me. Some of the best sounds came from less pricey speakers lower end model like Alon, Usher, and Gallo. Isn't it interesting how that works? most of you already know that it isn't necessary to spend mega bucks to get great sound, the HE2003 confirmed it for me. One of the best sounds, I though, came from Kimber's room. I was outside hallway and heard what I though was a live choral only to find out it was all electronics, didn't really have time to question what those odd looking speakers were. All in all a fun 1/2 day that only made me more proud as a Maggie owner.
