... and you have a single source (eg: SACD player), why not install the passive preamp in the player along with the tubes you already want? Then, you've eliminated sonic degradation from jacks & interconnects. Also, if you like your interconnects (maybe you've got cryogenic-treated teflon-insulated 6N silver), maybe you can upgrade the wire in your CDP with its cable. Sound cool?PS: What you're telling me makes sense & it probably would sound better if I had a Bryston at home. I already have a 3V output from my CDP, but my amp's 2.3V inputv sensitivity would greatly diminish that capability. A Bryston amp witha 1V input sensitivity would pprobably allow a passive preamp.
