To everyone that thinks that the mass will be less with foil on the bass membrane then wire.
The answer is NO NO NO NO!!!
The mass will NOT be altered UNLESS You change the overall resistance of the transducer.
REMEMBER, we are still talking about the SAME material being used, namely Aluminium/Aluminum.
You may find it very hard to get any metalized foil that has that kind of metal thickness that would be required.
Remember that You don't have very much width to lay with using foil between the poles so You need to compensate for this with the thickness as the length is predetermined.
Otherwise You will have higher resistance AND lighter weight then the original.
The one who succeeded was the one who didn't know it was impossible.
