For a moment I thought it was a repair job, but this pair of 3.6s was manufacterd like this. It is a double magnet bar and it totally prevents the wire underneath from moving.
This pair was manufactered around 2006, but I have seen it in a very recent model as well.
It begs the question of why?
Is it a QC issue as Peter Gun suggests?
Furthermore, is the original design somehow "compromised"? Definetly, mylar is less flexible and respondant.
