...shit.More people left CT last year than any other state, expect I think Indiana, or maybe it was Illinois.
No big businesses want to headquarter here, Hartford is broke and Malloy is a moron.
I have two buddies who made out quite well when GE rolled up and moved out. They got killer packages. If I had their money I'd be retired.
I'm in Ridgefield. Taxes on my acre and 2,800 sf house are $12K. That's nuts.
On the upside, I got the house in my divorce and with any luck there will be $400K+ equity in it when I sell.
Wherever I go, I'd want a house for under $300K, the further under the better.
I've seen new construction homes in NC, on small lots, about 1,500 sf homes, for $250K and less.
That would work for me, especially if I could find work.
My dream would be to find a surviving audio shop that needed a great salesman. Yes, I know... good luck with that.
Or, any job, ANY job, at a place that had healthcare.
I'm 58 and self employed, so no pension. When I quit working the money will stop coming. Hopefully Social Security will still be there to lend a little help.
All that said, except for my college years in Boston, I've lived in CT all my life. I really like my house. I love my town. If I could stay here forever I would.
There surely are a lot of financial benefits to Flordia, which is why some of my friends moved there. But most discovered they just didn't like it there.
