Where to live...

The discussion below on the heat in Arizona made me think about where I want to move to when the time comes.

I don't yet know when that time will be.

CT is too expensive, winter too rough and employment will eventually be a problem. I love my house, but its too big, there's too much yard to take care of and the taxes are nuts.

I like having four seasons, but can do without the extremes.

I'd like a place where a guy in his 60s can find work, any kind of work, just to keep cash flowing and from becoming bored.

I fish, so I need lakes and rivers.

I'll also want a small house in a neighborhood setting with a town nearby.

North and South Carolina look appealing. Homes are cheap... compared to CT they are crazy cheap, at least given what I see on Zillow.

Agreements? Disagreements? Not enough information? Suggestions?

Thanks.

I have a good friend who moved to the Philippines last year. He loves it. He rents a beachfront home, does nothing all day long, cooks outside every night, has a new girl friend (25 years younger) and his cost of living is under $600 USD a month, all-in.

I'm not moving there.

Dean.
