...had a Mercury Montego wagon with a 409.
During the gas crisis my dad traded it in, without her permission, for a Pinto wagon.
She drove the Pinto around the block, said it had no pep and asked my dad to get her car back.
Dad slept on the couch for weeks and ended up driving the Pinto.
My mom took his car, a Ford Fairlane with a 302 ...and plenty of pep.
That was the biggest fight they ever had.
The Pinto was crap ...and at 16 MPG was not much better than the Mercury with the 409.
