....the game has changed too much. I know people get their jollies trying to play these mental gymnastics, but it just can't be done. Just as we cannot compare baseball players from the dead ball ear to those of the live ball era, or steroid era, since statistics will be skewed. Fact is, when Montana was playing football, it was legal for defenders to crush offensive players. QB's and receivers are so protected by the rules these days, as the NFL tries to score more and more points, that the game is totally different today that it was when Montana was playing. You might as well try to compare Peyton Manning with Wayne Gretzky. LOL!!
Peyton Manning is a great QB, I've been watching him since he caught my eye as a sophomore at Tennessee. He may be the best QB of this era, but to call him the best ever would just be pointless and silly.
