matching step up trans with resistors.

I'm a little rusty and need a little bit of help. Lets assume that I have 1:2 step up transformer's secondary loaded with 1200 Ohm . It will reflect 300 Ohm load to the primary (not counting copper losses etc.). Assuming that transformer behaves the best with secondary terminated with this 1200 Ohm and the cart likes the load 600 ohm the best, can I simply terminate the primary with ??? resistor. Or , the other way around .Terminate the primary with 600 ohm which will reflect 2400 Ohm on secondary and terminate secondary with 1200 Ohm to bring down the load to desired 1200 Ohm.
TIA , W
