sounds like you are well on the track and just need to find the right combination of drivers and horns. there are some good looking horns on this site. http://www.inlowsound.com/
ClaudeJ1 over at the Klipsch forum has put together some amazing rigs matching drivers horn and compression drivers all with single cap crossovers. I think that the magic that you are looking for is going to be in the little details. But your response expectations are not going to be met no matter what speaker you choose. You room will cost a lot of money to treat but its is a great goal. From what I have found it sounds to me that straight horns are best as low as you can go which is typically 60-100Hz
I think that you need to find some members that have quality large high efficiency rigs and listen and see what works for you. I am told the Azure horn is excellent and there is the Synergy by Danley plus a host of other custom designs. Good luck and keep us posted as it sounds as if you have the insight and funds to build an excellent rig. Best regards Moray James.
