New high resolution SACD releases, players and technology.

Totally invisible mod

I have access to cryogenic chamber. All I did was to remove the analog power supply board, analog board, and the transformer. Put it in the cryo chamber.

The result is very musical, grainless, warm and transparent. My reference analog gear is Koetsu/Tom Evans Groove, the SACD-1000 is similarly musical.

In addition, placement of the SACD-1000 on Aurios MIB, isolated with a small 3M bumpon (so only the bumpon is touching the SACD1K, not the metal from MIB) adds further refinement and air.

Personally, my requirment of the mod must not impact the original design. I want to be 100% restorable. Cryo just improve all the metal content of the circuit and the solder joint, that's what I know about it. However, this is a very harsh process, so don't automatically dump what you have into the process, you may cry. Like I destroyed a $3K preamp in my learning process. But once the effect is heard, it is worth the risk, because a success if incredible performance.

Cryo'd sound is characterized by a velvetly black background, almost no trace of electronic harshness, with a transparency that goes boundless.

I owned Marantz SA14. The circuit looks similar. Marantz analog circuit was designed by the famous Ken Ishiwata, where he values music, tonal balance, rhythm integrity more than audiophile whiz bang.

I have no doubt that Philips wouldn't put in the best effort into circuit that is used in all the top player.

Also, before commenting on the sound, do change the filter setting to the 100Khz cut-off. Also, I stripped all the ribbon cable, use ProGold to polish and clean the connectors. The ribbon going into the analog board is very high-speed, at 192x oversampling equivalent, so any improvement in the connection will impact the sound.
