RE: HI-REZ vs. CD rez file pricing

None of this new digital equipment costs significantly more than the older lower resolution equipment. It might be a cost to upgrade an existing studio, but a new studio would not have extra costs for the higher resolution. The storage cost is essentially free in digital, regardless of the resolution, vs. hundreds of time greater if done on reel to reel tape. Bandwidth and downloads cost less than the credit card processing fees.

You are paying a premium because you are assumed to have lots of money and can afford to throw it around. Of course, if you are buying a remaster of an older analog recording then there will be labor costs involved in the remaster and these may be significant if the resulting sales volume is low. There are also start up costs setting up a web site, and support cost for ventures that are selling to idiots who aren't computer savvy, but these costs don't depend that much on the format.
