You are being a bit optimistic. A sizable fraction of the recordings I purchased were unlistenable. I'm not sure it's the tapes. Hopefully, the machines used to play back the tapes were not in good repair and they can be fixed. But even if it is the tapes, there are ways to remove the pitch variations and sprocket flutter, so the music may yet be saved.
