You should elaborate on what you mean by "never turning off." My last CD player was a Classé model which had an on/off switch but was meant to be "on" all the time but left in standby when not in use. Its standby switch only muted/unmuted the outputs. The same also holds true for my my current preamp as well as all of the other components I have owned over the past 20 years. The SA-11S2 is the first component I have owned within that period that does not have a standby switch, only power. The manufacturer likely means for it to be turned off when not in use, although as you indicated, it is probably fine to leave it turned on 24/7. Were the digital components you "never turned off" like this Marantz or were they like the Classé that were meant to be left on but in standby ?
