RE: I think the story with Waldrep is that he's worried. . .

I bought a small sample of Waldrup's recordings some years ago. They had OK sound, but nothing spectacular. At one time, at least, the quality control on his download operation was poor, as I purchased a recording of Haydn Trios that had had repeated and audible digital clipping. Waldrup replied with email that he would look into this, claiming the problem must have been transfering the DVD audio disk to the download server, but he never got back to me or refunded my money. After that failure, he went into my list of persons who do not keep their word.

DSD is a good audio format. My objection was to the SACD optical disk format because of its use of DRM. Once DSD was liberated from DRM and became available for download it became, IMO, the sonically preferable format for minimalist recordings of acoustic music. The format is not suitable for typical studio production processes, but IMO these are inappropriate for high quality reproduction of acoustic music.
