She *may* test better on a hearing test, but she does not listen for noises. If a tube goes bad and starts hissing, I can hear it from another room, when I come in to fix things, she will say "what's wrong, I didn't hear anything". Same for other noises in the house. I hear a noise from the basement, the water heater is leaking, she sees me hold my hands up asking for silence, and asks "what's wrong"? She doesn't hear the water leaking noise from downstairs.
It may come from my years of training my ears, on the job and at home. I can instantly hear when something has changed, or is askew. Whereas she just hears music, she hears nothing wrong. She could live quite happily with a boombox.
