EVERYBODY wants to feel it, but not everybody wants their gear to create some sort of sexy analogue of feeling. If a system gets the voices and instruments right, we'll get the feeling -- along with observation, as you call it. If.

The problem with gear creating analogues of feeling is WHAT feeling? Whose? Which is why there is such a variety of SET's and PP's, etc all attempting to create a particular designer's feeling. And audiophiles hunting around to find the gear that creates the feeling they want. That's a lot of what audiophilia seems to be. And why some of its critics say all SS sounds the same. It doesn't, of course, because some of it sucks. But some of the best amps do sound a lot like each other. Makes good sense, doesn't it.
