RE: I've seen some of those taste test articles.

When you drink a glass of wine the vast majority of what you are evaluating is the wine. Other factors, such as the glass and the serving conditions are easily controlled. This is not the case with audio. When you evaluate a $20000 component it is at most one part of a long chain of components, some in your room and some in one or more recording studios months or years ago. The situation with wine is far easier than the situation with audio playback, unless you are a recording engineer and have access to both ends of the record-playback chain and everything in the middle.

BTW, the very first sip of wine that crossed my lips was from a bottle of 1929 Chateau Margaux. My grandfather told me I couldn't have more than a sip because I was just a kid at the time. :-)
