You are married to Audio Note, 'not that there's anything wrong with that.' With that in mind, I'd say the M6 makes more sense for you. I like what Crimson does in an AN system -- opens it up a bit, thins the rich broth, injects some speed. But you might not. It changes an AN system and I suspect you don't really want to do that. I've always preached getting all of the components in a system going in the same direction rather than playing them off against each other in search of some elusive happy medium. It can work. I love Crimson cable in AN systems but AN purists would not and I understand that: there is no escaping the beauty of an all-AN system if that's your priority.
Assembling a system to enable you to be an effective reviewer and a happy dude is very hard on limited funds. Audio Note makes you happy but it's pretty much its own world.
