There are no "free" tweaks

"This is an essentially FREE tweak."

Even a "free" tweak entails a considerable commitment of one's time. For many, time is at least as precious as money.

If you want to determine if a tweak is useful you must listen for an extended time. There are many false tweaks that can be accounted for by the placebo effect. You happen to be in a good mood one day when you try a tweak and your system sounds unusually good, or perhaps it's unusually clean AC power, etc... If you applied the tweak then your mind will have an excuse to jump to the conclusion that the tweak made your system sound better. If the tweak really was the cause of better sound then the effect will persist, otherwise it will wear off. Or it may be that the tweak just changed the sound and the novelty was enjoyable, but this may wear out if doesn't constitute a real improvement. It is even possible to get mentally trapped in a "rock - paper - scissors" game where repeated changes to one's system appear to be continual improvements. In one is inclined to this behavior then one should confine oneself to "free" tweaks unless one has unlimited funds.
