RE: Looking for a "palpable" sound on CD.

The Blue Coast CD's are really good. Studio is equipped with JMR Offrandes, of course. Jean Claude Reyanud collaborates with Cooky Marenko on all of their recordings.

I last time I get MAJOR palpability out of an audio system was with Blue Circle Class A hybrid BC2's (no longer made) and I'm told the no holds barred version, the BC20, was even better. Class A was part of the game but also the 6SN7 tube.

Gilbert built the DAR ("death and resurrection") integrated, also with a 6SN7 tube, for those who still hankered after some of that kind of palpability. The DAR's not as good, can't be at its price point and because Class A is no longer considered feasible. The BC 2 ran VERY hot and took at least an hour to warm up if you didn't leave it on. If you left it on, it would whack your electric bill, though also heat your house. That said, if palpability's your game, iterations of the 6SN7 tube may be an interesting road to go down. Palpability ain't everything and involves some trade-offs. But I expect the Blue Coast CD's would love amps of that ilk.
