RE: What a Crock.

Again, what I'm talking about is the inability of any system to truly capture all aspects of live sound and so our tendency to be attracted to one that gets those that we feel are most important. And our vulnerability to be drawn away to another that gets different aspects of live sound extremely well, maybe better than our favorite system gets aspects we value. The assumption here is we are all vulnerable to systems that get some aspects of reality extremely well. And giving in to the charms of these other systems can make us feel that 'rightness' is moving around on us!

Interestingly, a close friend of mine plays the bassoon. His idea of what system sounds most accurate used to be considerably different than mine, based on his usual proximity to instruments playing all around him. I think, as you suggest, musicians (and composers) get audio in a different way than we amateurs and posers do.
