A fiction does not propose to be a copy of reality (read the disclaimer at the front of virtually every novel); audio systems do propose exactly that. We judge them -- some of us anyway --by how well they do that, how 'accurately.'But we are mincing words here, I agree. Fictions do aim to reveal reality, not just copy it. Fiction that merely copies reality fails utterly to move us. Audio systems set out to copy reality, or at least those aspects of it within their designers' reach.
