RE: Accuracy is a fiction.......

No accuracy, or rather accurate, is a comparative adjective when used among audiophiles meaning that what we're listening to sounds most like what we hear in the concert hall or jazz club. Measurements are not part of that conversation. What is most accurate to each of us is what sounds to us most like the real thing. And yes, of course, this is subjective but the reference that we can all go and hear in the hall, is not. So yes, I'm on that side of the argument rather than the whatever makes us happy side, which defends itself with defeatist solipsism.

To repeat myself, I do not believe there is yet a system that is persuasively 'accurate' in capturing all aspects of live sound. I have heard several that can get several of them wonderfully well.. So I see us as choosing among them, based on which aspects strike us as most important.

And, as I say, I see us always vulnerable to having our sense of what's important challenged and even altered when faced by a system that captures different aspects of musical reality brilliantly.
