Veering back and forth between transparent and harmonically rich systems because what you read here and there persuades you one or the other is incorrect.
Setting components against each other to achieve a balance of opposing forces rather than choosing those that are all going in the same direction.
Buying expensive and demanding speakers and then pairing them with inadequate electronics because you used up most of your dough on the speakers.
Believing that the expression "tube sound" has any consistent meaning.
Believing that gear quality is proportionate to the number/quality of reviews of it. Feeling insecure about gear (even after hearing it) that hasn't had widespread public approval.
