If you're a videophile, with each new model whether its displays or players, you're getting better picture and paying far less for it as witness during the CES. But as an audiophile, you're paying more with each new model with not so obvious improvment, if any. Other electronics like cameras and camcorders are giving you more megapixels and HD at a fraction of what it was selling several years ago. Just saw a Toshiba 40" 1080P flat panel for $449 delivered and no taxes on one of my spam mail. I understand scale of economy, but if high end wants to flourish we need to collectively figure this out. One company that seems to be bucking this is Emotiva. I don't own any of their gear, but if I were looking for an amp or AV processor, I would take them up on the trial offer.
