I did not read all of the responses in this thread, so someone may have said this already, you ARE risking fire by proposing the use of a wooden box. Receptacle boxes are supposed to be made of non-combustible material that will contain arcing, and prevent the propagation of fire inside your walls. Check your local code before using plastic. There are localities that prohibit non-metallic boxes and cable.
