My day at Rocky Mountain Audio Fest

A busy weekend for me, but luckily I had Sunday free to go to the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest. Since I only live within 30 minutes I was going to be really upset to miss it, and I was gald to have gone. I wish I could have attended all days, but I did get in some great listening for the day.

I also found the BAT / Avalon room to be one of the best.

I did not have time to see but a fraction of what was offered but some of the others that impressed me were the Nordost room. Lars from Nordost was a great guy and I spent quite a bit of time listening to the new lineup with the Baldur and Heimdall. These two cables really impressed me at about $ 400 to $ 600 per meter for the interconnect. They were not quite Valhalla, but bang for buck they were good in the display. I only wished I could have taken them home to play with.

Mbl some very impressive stuff both cosmetically and sonically.

Tyler acoustics, I don't think that you could find more down to earth and nicer people than Ty and his wife. His speakers were very reasonably priced and a fanstastic finish. I also was very impressed with the sound of these. After reading about his speakers I was really excited to get a chance to hear them and they did not dissapoint me.

These were just my favorite rooms and I also heard other nice systems. I also honestly heard some ridiculously expensive setups that did not impress me at all. In fact I heard one that cost about ten times what my own system does and I wouldn't have traded mine for it. I am not going to bash on any company though. I only want to share the positive with you and pass along that the most expensive isn't always the best, but you already knew that.
