Cryogenic treatment subjects the component for FAR colder temperatures than you deep-freeze. This might compress and align metal items into a tighter crystal structure, and that might make a difference. I suppose subjecting the treated object to highish heat would tend to unalign the sturcture pretty quickly on the other hand.
