Re: Expert upgrade advice needed. Mainly for Audio note folks.

I would imagine your system sounds pretty good as it is but if I had to rank the current components I think that the speakers are your best component followed by the amp with the two sources at a significantly lower level (but good for the price)

The AN J speakers sound terrific and I would keep them until you have a low power SET amp, a very large room and lots of spare money at which point you may want to go to the AN E.

The Sugden A48B is also good and I would not change it until I had changed both the sources unless I found a AN amplifier or an A21A second hand at a ridiculously low price.

The CD-6 was good value for the time and still sounds decent. Spending money on a new CD player or a DAC could improve things quite a lot but I hate to spend money on things that depreciate so fast. Unless nearly all the music I had that I liked was on CD rather than vinyl and I couldn't get it easily on garage sale LPs, I would live with the CD-6 and concentrate on the turntable.

The first thing I would do is get the most out of the Rega P2. I would make a double thickness Corian platter, rewire the arm, get Lou Reda's counterweight, and upgrade the cartridge to the V15 level. This will sound a lot better and will probably be something you want to keep for a second system even after you buy the turntable of your dreams.

Thats my not-so-expert opinion. I look forward to hearing what you actually end up doing and how it turns out.

Best Regards

David
