Re: High power speaker selector w/volume -any recommendations?

A speaker selector with three or more pairs of speakers will use a protection device which is a very large load resistor. This protects your amp from the low impedance of 4 speakers by inserting a four ohm load resistor which dissipates your amps power as heat. This will cost you 1/2 your power if the volume controls are turned up all the way. As you turn the volume controls down they cost 3 dB per click. Most have 10 steps so at half volume 5 x 3 = 15 db down. If you start with 100 watts you will have 100 less 50 watts which is 12.5 watts per speaker and will be about a watt at half volume on the speaker level controls if your amp is running at its full 100 watts output.
As far as sound these boxes are evil.
Try to find a multi channel multi room amp and connect one channel to each speaker. Even if the amp is only 25 watts per channel you will be far ahead.
