Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Re: Benchmark DAC and sound from computer

You can run quite a long S/PDIF or AES/EBU digital cable, but you will be introducing a lot of jitter, which defeats the whole purpose for the Benchmark DAC. It may be somewhat jitter insensitive, but I will bet that you will notice a difference between a 1.5m cable and a 6 meter cable. You would be better off to run a long USB cable from your computer and then convert to S/PDIF either before the DAC or inside the DAC. The length of the USB cable will not affect the jitter or sound quality, and is limited to 5 meters without a hub and 15 meters with a hub.
