Well, I think synergy is certainly important. I would add: isolation of front end components; cryogenic treatment (or at least freezing) of all components, power cords and interconnects; reduction of rid RFI/EMI in room and rest of the house! - Not for the Equipment's Sake, per se - but to improve one's ability to Perceive Things as they Are (sorry to be so cryptic, can't think of a better way to say it! - it's a PWB thing!). Room treatments have been overdone, less is almost always better; (I do like the judicious use of Helmholtz resonators). I also agree with you money is not answer.
