Home Digital Drive

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Why would you want to modify it ?

I have lots of experience modifying mid-price CD players for friends(see my long posts re Rega Planet and CAL Icon) and own an Audio Aero Capitole MKII.
I listen to my music in a state of bliss, never even thought of modifying it.
Once I took off the Capitole's top cover, to upgrade the software chip. It is built like a tank and uses high quality parts.
Its internal layout reminds me of IBM computers of the great mainframe era.
My respects to the engineers who designed this beauty.
I found nothing that calls for improvement (you know, cheap electrolytics, poor layout, inadequate grounding, small transformers).
Besides, what part of its sound you do not like, the analog-like smoothness, pristine treble, clean midrange, pitch-correct bass, wonderful soundstage/depth or powerful dynamics ?
My advice: do not mess with a winning team.
If you have the money, compare it to the latest DCS combo, but IMHO
you can achieve larger improvements investing in room acoustic treatment, dedicated AC wiring and new cables.
Good luck
Carlos
