Audio Aero, like Musical Fidelity (Trivista) and Audio Note, use rugged military pencil tubes in some of their products.
Those tubes were designed around 1960 for the US military, they can withstand a 40G side blow and are guaranteed to last a minimum of 20,000 hours of continuous duty.
To improve reliability, the designers specified those tubes with long solder leads. AFAIK, no socket is or was ever made for military pencil tubes.
Don't worry, be happy :^)
