Hello Wlee
Parts Connexion is a good source of Exotica, as is Handmade Electronics.
The manufacturer's web site, www.capacitors.com, carries a complete list of worldwide dealers. No affiliation....I am just a tweaker. My favorite resistors are tantalum (cheaper now that parts Connexion is an Audio Note dealer) and Riken ohm.
Tantalum sounds very true to the source, very transparent. They are the best if your source is musical and does not show any metalization of the upper midrange. Try to buy the older tantalum resistors, which are non-magnetic.
Riken sounds like a good tube: warm bass, natural, smooth midrange and a very clean and extended treble with no brightness at all. They are not as accurate as tantalum, but do they sound NICE!
I have auditioned a few DACs chock-full of Vishay resistors, that's not my kind of sound metallic and cold as steel.
Also, for high power applications like plate resistors and speaker crossover resistors, I find Mills 5W or 12W unbeatable.
I NEVER use metal film resistors, they choke vocals and piano.
Feel free to email if you have more doubts.
Best wishes
Carlos
