Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Re: Are there any basic rules of thumb to tweak a transport section in

I suggest that you damp the internals of the transport with Parts Express bitumen damping pads on all exposed surfaces. Take care not to interfere with the transport or slide movement.

Also, use 3M copper adhesive tape to shield the transport ICs.
The 3M adhesive layer is conductive, press the stripped end of a length of thin insulated teflon wire (I use AWG 28) between the IC and the tape, solder the other end of the wires to the main ground point.
For those ICs that do not heat up, you can add a layer of the bitumen damping sheet on top of the 3M copper tape.

Buy a lens cleaner disc and use it regularly, specially if there are smokers in the house.

Replace all caps with Black Gates, preferably N series nonpolar caps in yin/yang pair (+ connects to - ). Use the same value as the standard caps, BGs are so much better that usually there is no need to increase their value.

Experiment with supports, bases, spikes and damping feet.
I like sorbothane feet, some people prefer spikes.

Last but not least, leave the transport and DAC on 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.
For scope jockeys:
If you have a scope and a test CD, adjust laser focus and laser tracking.
Good luck
Carlos
