I ripped the MP3s with my Lite-On DVD drive.I was doing an AB comparison using my Grado SR-125's w/ my main system, and didn't like the 128 ones at all. You can hear this 'slurpy sizzling' sound in between the hits of hi-hat. The sax has lost texture. The cymbols sound homogenous. Bass is less defined.
As for the 192Kbps files, those artifacts are barely noticable, but there is that lack of pace. For me, its not that bad to distract me from the music, so I'm happy with 160 or 192 encoding rates.
