I found your brief review very interesting and thought provoking.
When I tried a Genki in my system I was surprised that I had a strong preference for my old Denon DCD 3300. The Denon not only had much better apparent build quality, it also sounded significantly better to me, particularly with respect to the ability to listen for hours without listening fatigue.
Since then I've changed to another older player, a Sony CDP x777ES which I prefer to the Denon.
As my system is not inclined to be excessively bright and there was filtering between the CD and Amp power feeds I would be surprised if my conclusions would be different in a different system but I must admit it's a possibility.
What I would recommend to anyone considering the Genki is to listen to one and a few alternatives in your own system before making a decision.
