Re: What digital data format on Chord DAC64 Mk II's 192kHz dual-wire connection?

Jim,
The format for the Fulcrum at 192KHz is PCM. The problem is not the Fulcrum in your set-up. The problem is that you don't have a Single-Wire to Dual-Wire (Double Rate) converter. When you set the Apogee Rosetta to Double Wire mode, both the inputs AND the outputs become Double Wire and that is why you are getting the same (single channel) information on both channels of the Fulcrum. The only Apogee product that does Single to Double Wire convertion is the Big Ben but it requires the latest firmware update to do this. There is also the stand alone Weiss Hydra single <=> double wire converters.

Here is my set-up: I'm feeding the Fulcrum DAC from an Apogee Big Ben Master Clock. Before the Apogee Big Ben, I have a Apogee Rosetta 200 doing the 96KHz to 192KHz Sample Rate Convertion and then I'm using the Apogee Big Ben to do the 192KHz Single Wire to 192KHz Dual-Wire (Double Rate) convertion before feeding the Fulcrum.

I hope that this helps clear up your problem. By the way, the Tube Technology Fulcrum DAC is a world class = world beater product. I love the sound of my Fulcrum. It replaced my Euphonix, Pacific Microdynamics, Model Two converter as my reference.
