Philips CD 650...smash or trash? Is this really an "organic" and "warm" sounding player?

Most of the vintage cd players I've heard have been thin, bright, one-dimensional, and lacked liquidity. A friend of mine has been telling me about this Philips CD 650 and I'm curious. I'm currently using a Rega Planet 2000 and it sounds synthetic and fatiguing to me. Yes, I know the Rega is supposed to be the warmest player in the world and all that...but it just doesn't sound like music and there is something about the player that really grates on me. I guess maybe I just have a hard time listening to digital. In any case, I would like any information/sonic impressions regarding this Philips machine. I'm unsure if buying one would be a waste of my time or not.
