Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Chinese Jack Welch

$30,000 for a chinese CEO? Maybe only on paper!

There are PLENTY of emerging rediculously wealthy people there, while the people in the rural areas barely get by.

Anyway, I digress.

I am certain that the main reason why the E5 CD player is so cheap is because there is not a 1000% mark-up as with all exotic audio stuff from North America & Europe.

I have built my fair share of hi-end equipment, and I know how much things cost when I look 'under the hood' of equipment, and all I can say is that most of the $2000-5000 CD players and amps can be built for MUCH less than that: almost all the parts are off-the-shelf, with circuits often derived (or sometimes copied!) from the datasheet provided by the OEM manufacturers of the chips and hardware (BurrBrown, Analog Devices, etc.).
