Audio Aero Design showed a new Capitole Reference CDP at the CES convention.
It comes with new switching power supplies (like the $20K Linn Cd-12), three standard analog inputs for the on-board tube preamp (one of them balanced), an external digital loop to enable digital room equalization (TACT anyone?) an USB-2 port to download new versions of software and a new design/faceplate ressembling the AA SACD player.
The 6021W miniature tube line stage, Anagram processor and digital chips remain unchanged.
Since Audio Aero's engineers come from the aerospace industry, I bet that their switching power supply will beat any outboard power supply. In the digital world, power supply leads MUST be kept very short to reduce stray impedance and EMI/RFI effects.
Audio Aero claims that the new Capitole Reference beats the MkII in bass power and treble extension.I hope this helps
