RE: AN, Naim, Linn ... ketchup or mustard ... whatever ...

Curious. I don't find the Cantata at all dark, especially compared with my former Naim CDS 2. I would say, if anything, it's less dark than what I'm used to. It has the CDS 2's energy but strikes me as much more open sounding. If we stick strictly to the coffee metaphor, both Audio Note and Blue Circle digital, which are my other references in recent times, have more cream in them. But, and here the coffee metaphor runs out of gas... because the Cantata has very little cream, which metaphorically would make it dark. Which it isn't! Okay? Oh well.
