Re: Deep Cryogenic Treatment WORKS!

The post you saw was mine. Every connector, piece of cabling and receptacle in my system has been cryoed. I also purchased a Cyberhome DVD player (about $38 U.S. at Walmart) to experiment with and have cryoed a few months ago because it was cheap enough to be disposable. It survived the process and I ended up having the Toshiba cryoed as well a few weeks ago.

The Cyberhome has a small stress crack in the front plastic panel which I believe I caused by overtightening when tightening back up the screws which I had backed off before the treatment. It also has a very small stress on the side where the front plastic panel joins the metal casing (disimilar materials obviously expanding and contracting at different rates during cool down and ramp up).

The Toshiba has a very similiar, very small stress crack on the side as well following cryo, you have to really search to find it. It made an odd noise following cryo during start up when a disc was engaged in the transport (actually even opening and closing without a disc resulted in the noise). I ended up fiddling around with the round white plastic hub in the top of the Toshiba transport; it ended up actually falling through and I had to retrieve it and re-install it from above. Everything works fine physically now.

FWIW, the cryoed Cyberhome, which I am now pretty sure is fully broken in, destroys the cryoed Toshiba, which may not be fully broken in (I am trying to put 100-200 hours on it before I re-evaluate things). Before cryo, the Toshiba was fully burned in, the Cyberhome new out of the box. The Cyberhome sounded like a piece of junk but did have some very appealing qualities pre-cryo. Either the cryo was very effective on it, or it has a very long break-in period or both. Cryoed up, it is one fantastic sounding player. The improvements I hear folliwng cryo are consistent with those I've had with cables, but more dramatic.

Every piece of cable I've had done has resulted in an improved sound quality. Most of my posts on cryo are in the tweaks section I believe.
