I know about the advantage of shorter cables. But the question was actually if a cheaper cable can be made sound expensive by making it shorter. So I assume that it is predominantly the "lenght" of the cable that determines the purity of the signal. In practise. My silverAudio Silverbullets 4.0 ($225) will be replaces with Stealth Audio PSG ($1600). Present cable is 1 feet. Replacement is 3 feet. Conclusion with my presupposition is that the SilverAudio will still sound better or as good as the Stealth because it is much shorter. But I'm not sure...
