I am not JR, but can give you some pointers:
Malcolm Hawksford proved (and published a paper on HFN/RR) that 0.8 mmm diameter (AWG 22) is the thickest cable that will not show apppreciable treble loss due to skin effect.
SO, never go thicker than AWG 22 (shame on you, Monster Cable).OTOH, for a 1 meter or longer copper IC, gauges smaller than 26-28 AWG lose bass punch pretty fast.
Silver has a slightly different skin behaviour, it seems to work well from AWG 26 to 32, depending on the system's tonal balance.
IME it always sounds leaner and smoother than copper, with extended treble/air.
In summary, experiment to find out which material/gauge better matches your system.
Good luck
Carlos
